Assess and screen
We confirm the likely elbow diagnosis and review medicines, allergies, diabetes, infection risk and previous treatment.
Ultrasound-guided injection consultation in Hull
Clinical assessment, ultrasound confirmation of the intended target and shared decision-making before any elbow injection is considered.
THE RESOLVE STANDARD
Assessment first
The first task is to confirm the likely diagnosis and whether an injection could help. We review your symptoms, medicines, allergies, diabetes, infection risk, previous injections and relevant imaging before examining the elbow. Booking a consultation does not guarantee that an injection will be recommended or performed.
When an injection is appropriate, ultrasound can identify the intended joint, bursa or tendon sheath and display the needle in real time. The medicine, target and technique depend on the diagnosis and your health; the expected benefit, uncertainty, alternatives and aftercare are discussed before consent.
Steroid injection is not routinely the first choice for tennis elbow because longer-term outcomes and tendon health must be considered. Progressive loading and activity modification often take priority. Treatment is connected to a practical rehabilitation plan rather than presented as a stand-alone cure.
Your local clinic
Consultations take place at Resolve MSK Clinic on Bond Street. We assess suitability first and refer for another investigation or specialist opinion when that is the safer or more useful next step.

A focused consultation
The elbow or radiohumeral joint for selected joint presentations
A bursa or tendon sheath when infection has been excluded and injection is appropriate
Small targets where the needle should be visualised in real time
Whether persistent tendon pain should continue with progressive rehabilitation instead
Whether locking, instability, nerve symptoms or trauma needs imaging or specialist referral
Your pathway
We confirm the likely elbow diagnosis and review medicines, allergies, diabetes, infection risk and previous treatment.
The proposed target is examined and we confirm whether the scan findings support the planned procedure.
Benefits, limitations, alternatives and material risks are discussed before any agreed injection is performed using sterile technique.
You receive activity advice, warning signs and a plan for exercise, review or onward referral.
Honest, evidence-informed care
Ultrasound guidance can help visualise the target and needle, particularly for small or deep structures. It does not make an unsuitable injection appropriate. Risks can include a temporary pain flare, bruising or bleeding, infection, skin or fat change, a temporary rise in blood glucose and medication-specific complications; individual risks are discussed before consent.
Common questions
You can book a suitability consultation. A clinical assessment and appropriate screening must take place before any procedure is agreed.
Where ultrasound guidance is being considered, the target is assessed before the procedure. If another investigation is more appropriate, we will explain this.
That depends on the diagnosis, the target and your medical history. The proposed medicine, expected benefit, alternatives and risks are explained before consent.
You receive individual aftercare advice, warning signs and guidance on returning to exercise, work and rehabilitation.
