Your physiotherapy clinic in Hull

Assessment first, followed by treatment that fits the problem.

Welcome to Resolve MSK Clinic, a private physiotherapy and musculoskeletal clinic in Hull city centre. We help adults with new injuries, persistent pain, joint stiffness, tendon problems and reduced confidence with work, exercise or everyday movement.

Your first physiotherapy appointment

Your 45-minute initial appointment explores how the problem started, what makes it better or worse, your health and previous treatment, and the activities you want to regain. We screen for warning signs and select movement, strength, joint, tendon and neurological tests where relevant.

We explain the likely diagnosis and any uncertainty, agree practical goals and discuss the treatment options. You leave with a clear starting plan and advice for the time between appointments. If further investigation or specialist review is more appropriate, we explain the recommended next step.

Treatment tailored to you

Physiotherapy treatment built around your assessment.

We select treatment according to your symptoms, examination findings and goals, and discuss the options with you. Your appointment may combine the approaches below.

Understand and manage your symptoms

Clear explanations and practical advice about activity, work and everyday movement help you decide what to continue, what to adapt and how to build activity back up.

Exercise and movement retraining

We choose mobility, strengthening or movement-control exercises for your current ability. We check technique in the clinic and agree a manageable starting amount for home.

Hands-on physiotherapy when appropriate

Joint mobilisation, therapeutic massage and other soft-tissue techniques may form part of your treatment. Their role is discussed alongside progressive exercise and practical activity advice.

Rehabilitation and follow-up

A progressive plan for the activities you want to regain.

Your home programme connects treatment in the clinic with everyday life. We agree what to practise, how much to do and how to monitor your response.

  1. Choose a realistic starting point

Exercises begin at a level matched to your movement, strength, symptoms and daily demands. The plan explains technique, repetitions or duration, frequency and any activity adjustments.

  2. Review your response

At follow-up, we review how you managed between appointments and reassess relevant movement, strength and function. We also consider whether the plan is practical for you.

  3. Progress towards your goals

We adjust resistance, repetitions, range or task difficulty according to your response. This may build towards longer walks, stairs, lifting at work, gym exercises or a return to sport.

If symptoms worsen, progress stalls or the findings change, we reassess the plan and discuss whether further investigation or another service is needed. For sport-specific goals, explore our sports injury rehabilitation service.

Before your appointment

Useful information before you visit.

Do I need a GP referral?

No. Adults can book a private physiotherapy assessment directly. If another investigation or specialist service is more appropriate, we will explain why.

What happens at the first physiotherapy appointment?

We discuss how the problem started, how it affects you and what you need to return to. The physical assessment is selected for your presentation and may include movement, strength, joint, tendon and neurological tests. We then explain the likely diagnosis and agree the next step.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing that allows the painful area and the relevant movement to be assessed. Bring any useful scan reports, clinic letters and a current medicines list.

Will I receive a home exercise programme?

When exercises are appropriate, we select them for your symptoms, current ability and goals. We explain the technique, starting amount and what to monitor between appointments. Your programme is reviewed and adjusted as you progress.

How many physiotherapy appointments will I need?

This depends on the problem, how long symptoms have been present, your goals and your response to treatment. We discuss an initial plan after assessment and review whether further appointments are useful. There is no fixed number suitable for everyone.

Does physiotherapy always include hands-on treatment?

No. Joint mobilisation, therapeutic massage or other soft-tissue treatment may be included when appropriate, alongside education and rehabilitation. The treatment choice follows the assessment and your preferences.
