Steroid injection consultation in Hull
A specialist consultation to decide whether a corticosteroid injection has a clinically appropriate role—and to discuss benefits, limitations, risks and alternatives before treatment.
THE RESOLVE STANDARD
Assessment first
Corticosteroid injections can sometimes provide short-term symptom relief for selected conditions. The likely benefit depends on the diagnosis, the area being treated, your health, previous injections and what the procedure is intended to help you do next.
We screen for relevant risks and explain alternatives. If an injection is agreed, it is linked to activity advice, rehabilitation and review rather than presented as a cure.
A focused consultation
Whether the diagnosis is sufficiently clear before a procedure
What conservative treatment and rehabilitation have already been tried
Medical conditions, medicines and previous injection response
Expected short-term benefit, uncertainty and relevant risks
Whether another treatment, investigation or referral should take priority
Your pathway
We review the condition, health history, medicines and previous treatment.
Suitability, precautions, contraindications and alternatives are considered.
Potential benefits, limitations and risks are discussed without pressure to proceed.
Aftercare and the role of rehabilitation are agreed and documented.
Honest, evidence-informed care
For osteoarthritis, NICE advises considering intra-articular corticosteroid injections for short-term relief when other pharmacological treatments are ineffective or unsuitable, or to support therapeutic exercise. This does not mean an injection is suitable for every joint or every person.
Common questions
It may be possible when clinically appropriate and all required information, medicine and consent are in place. It is never guaranteed in advance.
Response varies between people and conditions. We will not promise a specific duration or guaranteed improvement.
Previous injections, response, timing, tissue health and overall risk must be reviewed before any repeat procedure.
